We are seeking a reliable and experienced Licensed Class 1 Shunt Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating heavy-duty trucks, shunt vehicles, experience in B trains with excellent driving skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. This role involves moving trucks and trailers within our yard and between our facility and various locations.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class 1 vehicles and shunt trucks to move trailers and heavy-duty trucks within the yard and to designated locations.
- Inspect vehicles before and after use to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Accurately log and report any maintenance or repair needs.
- Adherent to all safety protocols and transportation regulations.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure timely and efficient movement of vehicles.
- Assist with yard organization and ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to facilitate smooth operations.
- Work with the mechanics as time permits
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a shunt driver or in a similar role.
- Must be able to operate Standard Transmission
- Strong understanding of heavy-duty truck and trailer operations.
- B Train experience an asset
- Ability to maneuver large vehicles in tight spaces safely.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
